Reflection 1

How will my assessment page help me during my first teaching block, look back on my page I think that this will be a great reference to use when I’m looking to evaluate my students. I said this because I can look at my resource that I have curate within my AER strategy form which can help me better assess my students within my classroom. The AER strategy form will also help when looking at other area such as assessment and the different type of assessment that there are and will also help me have an understanding of the different assessment. 

Reflection 3

The goal that I would want to emphasis during a job interview would be having the ability to implement differentiated instruction within my lesson with appropriate accommodation and modification. The reason why this would be mention during an interview is because it is an important areas to focus on since many more classroom are being an inclusive environment it is important to be able to provide differentiated instruction while teaching my lessons. This is also important because it provide the students with an inclusion education which is important to have because it allows everyone to feel include within the education system.

Growing Success has impacted your beliefs about assessment.

My beliefs about assessment after reviewing the policies and practices have been enrich with more knowledge. I said this because the Growing Success was a very helpful tool to read because it provide example of reports, achievement chart as well touch on many different area of assessment, evaluation and reporting that take place within our classrooms.

I still believe that feedback is a great way for students to be assess on their work compare to a grade because the student is able to then use that feedback to improve their work in order to receive a better final grade. As while as having assessment accommodate or modify for individual with an IEP was show throughout the Growing Success and also how it is helping to have assessment implement for students with special need because it can also help evaluate how certain strategies are working for that individual as well.

I still agree with my beliefs that there is a large important place on grade and not on the knowledge that the students are gaining. This also creates students to place a larger importance on their grades as well and created a competitive nature within the students this is not a bad things however students could be focusing only on their grades and not on the knowledge that they are gaining. I think that the Growing Success book provide great example and information about the different area that us as teacher must take into consideration when teaching.

Assessment and My beliefs 

When I was in elementary school I don’t remember much about the type of assessment that was use. All I do remember was that I would be given a grade for completing a test or a project. I believe that only relying on test and project to assess student is not the best way and that our education system has move to many other form of assessment with the classroom now. So far within my school placement I have experiences the feedback form of assessment which was great because all that was done was writing a comment about their work. I believe that assessment should be about making sure that our students are growing there learning in a positive way. 

So far I’m not overly familiar with the tool of assessment so my beliefs about assessment are not well develop yet however hopefully throughout taking my assessment course I will gain more knowledge on the subject and will develop my own beliefs towards assessment. 

For now my beliefs on assessment is very little since I'm not too familiar with assessment beside that one that I have receive thought my schooling. From my past experiences I have just had the formal assessment with receiving the grade however once I got to College and University I was not only getting a grade however I was also receiving feedback on the work that I had completed. I really like this version of getting a grade and feedback which allowed me to know what needed to be done next time to improve my grade and my work. 

When looking back I see that this type of assessment is a great way to give the student feedback to improve their work while also giving them the grade that most student want when handing in a test, project, or any other school work that would be grade. You could also just do one or the other type of assessment is that you could either give them just a grade which is what most student are used to and you still sometime do need to just give them a grade. However you could also just give them feedback which let them be able to improve them selves and their work without having to worried about whether this may affect their grade. Which also let them improve their school work within a positive environment without the stress of the grade. Because many student focus a lot on the grade and place a large importance on those grades, my hope is that one day student will focus more on the feedback that they receive and focus on improving their own learning with self reflection and to compete with one self instead of others.
